Part 1: Introduction to PMP Certification and Registration Process

Kicking off the program, host Lê Tuấn provided an overview of the PMP (Project Management Professional) certification – one of the most prestigious credentials in the field of project management. He explained in detail the benefits of obtaining
the PMP certification, the requirements for registering for the exam, as well
as effective preparation strategies. This information was particularly valuable
for those planning to pursue the PMP certification in the future.

Part 2: Understanding Project Charter and Its Importance

The main focus of the webinar was on the Project Charter, with speakers Trương Quách and Tạ Nguyệt sharing in-depth knowledge about this critical project management tool. The speakers clarified the concept, structure, and role of the Project Charter in defining project objectives, scope, and success. They emphasized its importance as a foundational document that aligns stakeholders, sets clear
expectations, and ensures project alignment with organizational goals.
Real-life examples and case studies were presented to help attendees better
understand how to create and apply the Project Charter in various scenarios.

Part 3: Experience Sharing and Q&A Session

To conclude the webinar, speakers Trương Quách and Tạ Nguyệt took the time to share their valuable experiences in working with Project Charters and managing
projects. Attendees actively participated in the Q&A session, asking
insightful questions about challenges and best practices related to Project
Charters. The speakers provided thorough and practical answers, offering
actionable insights for everyone.

Conclusion

The webinar ended on a high note, filled with enthusiasm and inspiration. The knowledge and experiences shared
not only helped attendees gain a deeper understanding of the Project
Charter and its importance but also motivated them to apply these insights
effectively in their own projects.

🎉 RECAP OF THE KICK-OFF EVENT – WOMEN IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT (WiPM) 🎉

On March 8th, the Kick-off event for Women in Project Management (WiPM), organized by PMI Vietnam Chapter, was successfully held!

💪 More than 10 female Project Managers gathered for an energetic morning of learning, sharing, and networking.

☕️ The event started with an exciting coffee-making workshop. Participants not only crafted their own delicious coffee but also had the opportunity to relax, unwind, and openly share their stories.

💡 A dynamic brainstorming session followed, generating many creative and valuable ideas for the WiPM project in 2025. Members contributed meaningful proposals for mentorship programs, skill development workshops, and community networking events.

🚀 Kickstarting a New Chapter in Project Management Education! 🎓📈

On January 16th, we had an exciting Kick-off Meeting for the collaboration between PMI Vietnam Chapter and Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE)! HOẠT ĐỘNG OUTREACH TẠI ĐẠI HỌC HUTECH NGÀY 20/10/2023

Ngày 20/10/2023, PMI Vietnam Chapter phối hợp cùng với Đại học HUTECH tổ chức workshop với chủ đề “Project Management Excellent: A Comprehesive Overview of PMI-PMP International Standards”.

Hội thảo được Team Outreach PMI Vietnam Chapter thiết kế và phối hợp cùng trường HUTECH – Đại học Công nghệ Tp.HCM tổ chức đặc biệt dành cho các bạn sinh viên Khoa Xây dựng, với mong muốn kết nối, giới thiệu và định hướng đến các bạn sinh viên ngành quản lý dự án nói chung và QLDA Xây dựng nói riêng theo chuẩn của Viện Quản lý dự án Hoa Kỳ (Project Management Institute, gọi tắt là PMI), Chi Hội Việt Nam (PMI Vietnam Chapter).

Tham gia hội thảo, về phía Đại học HUTECH có Thầy Võ Minh Thiện – Trưởng khoa Xây dựng, Thầy Nguyễn Việt Tuấn – Chủ nhiệm Bộ môn thi công, và các Thầy thuộc Khoa Xây dựng. Phần 1 : Giới thiệu
Các diễn giả đến từ Team Outreach của PMI Vietnam Chapter là các chuyên gia có nhiều năm kinh nghiệm về chuyên môn và quản lý dự án (QLDA) thuộc nhiều lĩnh vực đã trình bày các chủ đề:
• Ông Mai Quốc Khánh giới thiệu với sinh viên về PMI và Vietnam Chapter; những lợi ích của tư cách thành viên của PMI và các chứng chỉ do PMI cấp, đặc biệt là chứng chỉ nổi tiếng PMP. Ông Khánh còn cho biết các yêu cầu đầu vào, lộ trình đăng ký, ôn luyện và thi chứng chỉ PMP.
• Ông Quách Lê Trương chia sẻ đến sinh viên Khái niệm cơ bàn Khung kiến thức QLDA, các lĩnh vực kiến thức và các quy trình QLDA theo chuẩn của PMI.
• Các case-studies (tình huống thực tế) áp dụng lý thuyết QLDA và quản lý nguy cơ / rủi ro (risk management) trong các dự án mà các chuyên gia từ PMI Vietnam Chapter đã trải qua và giải quyết thành công được Ông Đỗ Khắc Lê Minh và Ông Lê Văn chia sẻ.
 
Phần 2 : Giao lưu – Questions & Answer
• Các diễn giả đã giải đáp các câu hỏi sát sườn không chỉ từ sinh viên của Trường, mà còn của các Thầy về khung năng lực của người QLDA theo chuẩn PMI, thủ tục đăng ký, ôn luyện thi chứng chỉ PMP, giá trị của chứng chỉ PMP trong thị trường lao động hiện nay.
• Mr. Lê Văn đã tổ chức khảo sát trực tuyến tại chỗ cho sinh viên với các câu hỏi: “Mô tả người QLDA chuyên nghiệp trong một từ” và nhận được những câu trả lời rất đa dạng, chính xác cùng những câu trả lời đời thường đầy bất ngờ và thú vị, cho thấy được góc nhìn từ sinh viên đối với vai trò của người QLDA chuyên nghiệp.
 
Kết thúc buổi workshop, đại diện nhà trường mong muốn sẽ có thêm những buổi Workshop chuyên đề thực nghiệm để sinh viên có thêm nhiều kiến thức, trải nghiệm và tự tin trong công việc tương lai sau khi tốt nghiệp.

On October 20, 2023, PMI Vietnam Chapter organized a workshop “Project Management Excellence: Comprehensive overview of the PMP and PMI’s Project Management Standard”, in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology / HUTECH.

The workshop was designed for students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, with the aim of introducing Project Management Institute (PMI), its chapters (including PMI Vietnam Chapter), its project management principle as well as its certifications; and drew a possible career pathway for them.

Participating in the conference, from HUTECH University, there were Mr. Vo Minh Thien – Head of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Mr. Nguyen Viet Tuan and other teachers of the faculty. On the PMI Vietnam Chapter side, there were Mr. Le Van – Deputy Director Outreach, Mr. Do Khac Le Minh – Manager Membership & Communication, Mr. Mai Quoc Khanh – Membership & Communication, Mr. Quach Le Truong – Project Professional Team Leader.

Speakers from PMI Vietnam Chapter, who are experienced specialists in their fields, presented the following topics:

  • Introduction to PMI and Vietnam Chapter; the benefits of PMI membership and certifications issued by PMI.
  • Overview of project management, knowledge areas and project management processes according to PMI standards.
  • Case-studies and risk management in projects that they faced while running their projects and successfully resolved.

Part 2 of the workshop is a Q &A session.

  • The speakers answered questions not only from the University’s students, but also from the teachers about the competency framework of project managers according to PMI standards, PMP exam registration procedures, PMP certification exam preparation, and values of PMP certification in today’s labor market.

At the end of the workshop, HUTECH side hoped there will be more workshops so that students would have more information and knowledge to prepare for future success.
